Call to order 3:55pm
Motion to accept the minutes from December 2, 2014 – seconded and passed.
Committee Reports – Finance – Requests: Elizabeth Celotto Child Care Center - $250. One-time special request- Citizens to Drive Out Ebola $5,000.
Discussion as to administrative costs, if any, the United Way would take out. Dave will check and get back to the board.
Grievance – Class overages at the four schools – Truman, Bishop Woods, Hill Central, Hillhouse have all been resolved. All teachers will receive monetary compensation.
Presidents Report – David Cicarella – Proposed Achievement First charter school – Dave has spoken with Superintendent Garth Harries and Mayor Harp to explain the union’s position on this issue. Both the NHFT and SAA have publicly spoken against this charter at the Monday Board of Ed meeting. Dave distributed a draft letter to be sent to all NHFT members for discussion, input, etc. The draft will be cleaned up and additional, pertinent information added. It will be sent to Executive Board for final approval.
The Executive Board has made it very clear that if this AF Charter school moves forward it will bring serious consequences to the reform movement. More to follow.
Old Business – Any and all TEVAL issue should be reported to the union.
New Business – Union is very concerned about the amount of new testing being done at the elementary level.
Some concerns were raised about snow and ice removal. It is a shared responsibility between the custodians and the AFB.
Any issues with medical coverage should be reported to VP Tom Burns.
