EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING
SEPTEMBER 9, 2014

Call to order 3:55 pm
Motion to accept the minutes from May 2nd – Passed
President’s Report – D. Cicarella – Explanation of salary schedule, changing from numbers to letters. Everyone will have step movement and salary increases all three years. In addition salary schedule was reduced from 17 steps to 16 steps. Highlight video of AFT National convention will be shown at next month’s meeting.
Committee Reports – Finance – P. DeLucia – Requests for United Labor Agency $250 and CT Food Bank $250 motion and passed.
Treasurer – M. Pantaleo – All bills are paid, no outstanding debt.
Grievance – T. Burns – Class size issues are being resolved. There is no “Oct 1st” rule. Class size issues are handled on a case by case basis to determine if they rise to the level of a formal grievance.
New Business – Email went out to all from TIF (Mike Crocco) Director. Teachers may apply for super tutor and curriculum facilitator positions.
City Wide Committee is being formed to address concerns/proposals to be address issues left unresolved in negotiations. This is similar to TEVAL from the previous contract whereby we agreed that a committee would be set up to collaboratively work on agreed upon issues. A “marker” or reference is included in the new contract to make certain these concerns are addressed.
New medical cards should be arriving in the mail.
Union has requested that E4E group (Educators for Excellence) not be allowed into buildings during school hours. The union has numerous issues with their educational platforms.
Union will be active in this legislative session to rally against charter school members serving on public boards of education.
