EXECUTIVE BOARD MEETING

DECEMBER 2, 2015

Call to order at 3:55 pm.

 

Motion to accept the minutes from October – 2nd and passed

 

November Meeting is cancelled due to Election Day.

 

Committee Reports

·         Finance – P. DeLucia – Requests for donations FHCHC - $150 and CT Food Bank $300.

               Final Budget review of 2014 will be January 2015 and the proposed budget review will be Feb. 2015.

 

·         Grievance – Tom Burns/Dave Cicarella – Overages at Hillhouse, Truman, Hill Central, and Bishop Woods are scheduled to be resolved before year end.

 

New Business – E4E – Educators for Excellence – Funded by Bill Gates and Eli Broad – Many unresolved core value issues.  Union position is they should not  meet with teachers in their buildings as we cannot support this group b/c of their stated policies which are in opposition to the NHFT’s.

 

Coalition Rally on the NH Green – Wednesday, Dec. 3, 2014.  No teachers or teacher unions were invited. 

 

·         Tom has sent a scathing response to Jen Alexander.  Dave will follow with an editorial response to the New Haven Register after the rally.

 

Restorative Practice update – Billy Johnson will be the Program Director and  many community groups have expressed interest.  Develop strategies to deal with disruptive behaviors that impact student learning.  Presentation will be made to the Exec. Bd at the January 2015 meeting.

 

TEVAL – Marianne Maloney/Dave Cicarella – Union has expressed many concerns over some format changes.  There seems to be an erosion of professional respect which is the core of TEVAL.  Dave will meet with Michele Sherban on Dec. 14th.

 

Old Business – Express Scripts – mail order maintenance drugs are now a one-time co-pay.

 

TIF/Pep stipends will go out in Dec/Jan.  These stipends are now added into your pay.

 

Teachers rated 1 or 2 that need to complete ten hours of P.D. in order to get their increments may be able to do it online – More to follow.

 

Attendance Committee presented on Tues. Dec. 2nd. Sick bank lists are being compiled by the union. 

 

Holiday party sign-up deadline is Thursday, Dec. 4th.
