Call to order 4:00 pm.
Motion to accept the minutes from October – 2nd and passed.
Committee Reports –
· Finance – Requests – United Labor Agency – Toy Drive - $100
Elm City Bowl Ad – Full page $125 – Food Bank - $500 and Gift cards $500 all passed.
· Treasurer Report – Dues payments were made to AFT. Bi-monthly currently down 100 members. Only two members have not resigned after the Janus ruling. Job well done by the stewards. President and Finance Committee will look at every line item for the 19/20 operating budget.
· Grievance – Professional Days are being denied. Union will bring concerns to Dr. Birks. Teachers covering classes will be addressed. DCF cases are up this year. Union is monitoring.
· Security – Phase 3 of key card is being worked on.
City was appreciative of Union’s efforts to absorb cost of room keys.
Sexual assaults – Carolyn Ross Lee is city point person. Contact union if there are any security issues or concerns. Next meeting Wed. Nov. 7th.
New Business – Class size MOU payments for overages has been settled in four schools.
Elections process has been open and transparent and followed DOL rules and regulations.
Recall lay-off list is down to 9 teachers. Education budget shortage has gone down from 21 million to 8.8 million. City may be asking for furlough days. Union needs “no layoff” guarantee for multiple years. More to follow…. Every item and concern goes through the Executive Board.
